Telehealth

For Florida Residents

HIPAA Compliant

Two-way Live Video

Telehealth is fairly new to some people but it has been around for years. Since the Covid-19 Pandemic, Telehealth has helped patients/clients and doctors/therapists contninue their services without interruption or disruption to their treatment/services. Dr. Payan offers telehealth to those who reside in Florida, where she is licensed.

FAQ's

1. What does Telehealth look like?
Telehealth is conducted via two-way live, HIPAA compliant platform. You will use your phone or computer to connect to this platform (link provided prior to your appointment) and speak to the psychologist as you would while in the office.

2. What do I need to use Telehealth?
Nowadays, all smartphones can easily be used for telehealth. Computers and a stable internet connection are best for a smooth process. Make sure you have a webcam, microphone, and if needed, a headset.

3. Where can I do the session?
The positive about doing Telehealth is that it can be completed anywhere you are (home, the office, a car). It is advisable that you find a quiet, private and comfortable location, free of distraction and interruptions, and with good lighting.

4. Which is best, in-person or telehealth?
There has been research that telehealth is as effective as in-person services. However, there is no one-size-fits-all approach and Telehealth is usually condcuted with adults. Dr. Payan does not conduct telehealth for young kids as she feels that children will fare better with a more one-to-one approach. Family sessions are also only conducted in person. With teenagers, this will be at the psychologist's discretion and after an initial evaluation has been conducted.

Services for all Florida Residents

Dr. Payan's office is located in Miami, FL. However, telehealth helps clients receive services from their preferred provider if they live in the same state. Contact us if you'd like to start therapy with Dr. Payan via Telehealth. Being able to receive therapy from far away allows many the opportunity to get help for their mental health. Dr. Payan also conducts therapy in Spanish, which is an advantage for those who need counseling and do not have access to a Spanish-speaking therapist or psychologist close to them.
